Holstein cattle, adult, pregnant. Multiple skin masses were found on the back, and one of them became bigger and bigger. The masses were excised for histopathological eaxmination.

Morphologic diagnosis :

Skin: skin was characterized by epidermal hyperplasia, compact orthokeratotic hyperkeratosis, enlarged keratohyaline granules and several koilocytes (vacuolization), edema with an infiltrate of T lymphocytes. Intranuclear inclusion bodies were present in swollen or degenerating cells of the upper spinous and granular cell layer. In some cells of the upper spinous layer the normal eosinophilic cytoplasm of the cells is replaced by a gray‐blue finely granular material (cytoplasmic basophilia, viral cytopathic effect)

Haired skin: Fibropapilloma

Lab. examination:

1.     PCR: BPV1 (6/8); BPV: 2/8

2.     IHC, ISH: epidermis (BPV1 +)
